Glossary Players

  • Age is player’s age at the start of the specific season.
  • Role is based on player’s ice time per game from only the five on five situation of the specific season.
  • Every stat is per 60 & only from five on five situation (apart power play & penalty kill) & from the selected season.
  • Penalties drawn & penalties taken are also only from five on five situation.
  • Forwards & defensemen are evaluated separately.

Update

  • On December 19th, the model for player cards was updated.
  • ‘Quality of Teammates’ was moved to the ‘Offense’ value.
  • The most significant changes occurred in the weights of on-ice and relative statistics. For forwards and ‘Offense’, the weight for ‘Relative goals for per 60’ was increased, while the weight for ‘Relative expected goals for per 60’ was slightly reduced. On the other hand, for ‘Defense’, the weight for ‘Relative goals against per 60’ and ‘Goals against per 60’ was significantly reduced.
  • For defensemen, the value for ‘Relative expected goals for per 60’ was increased, while ‘Relative goals for per 60’ was slightly reduced. The same adjustments were made for on-ice statistics. And just like for forwards, the weight for ‘Relative goals against per 60’ and ‘Goals against per 60’ was reduced for ‘Defense’.
  • Penalties are now only from five on five play. Player cards are now completely based only on five on five play.

Offense

  • ‘Offense’ value includes individual & on-ice & relative stats & penalties drawn & quality of teammates. All stats from five on five situation. Every stat has its own weight.
  • Impact includes: relative to teammates goals for per 60 & relative to teammates expected goals for per 60. Both stats have different weights.
  • Points include: goals per 60 & primary assists per 60 & secondary assists per 60. All stats have different weights. Goals has the highest value, secondary assists the lowest.
  • Finishing includes: goals per 60 & goals above expected. Both have the same weight.
  • Passing includes: primary assists per 60 & secondary assists per 60. Primary assists have higher weight.

Defense

  • ‘Defense’ value includes individual (blocks for example) & on-ice & relative stats & quality of competition & zone starts & penalties taken. Every stat is from only five on five. Every stat has its own weight.
  • Impact includes: relative to teammates goals against per 60 & relative to teammates expected goals against per 60. Both stats have different weights.
  • Role difficulty includes: quality of competition & defensive zone starts. All stats have different weights.

Other

  • Power play is not included in total ‘Offense’. Goals per 60 & primary assists per 60 & secondary assists per 60 & individual expected goals per 60 & goals above expected & two relative to teammates stats for per 60. All stats have different weights.
  • Penalty kill is not included in total ‘Defense’ value. Blocks per 60 & two relative to teammates stats against per 60. All stats have different weights.
  • Penalties drawn per 60 at five on five. They are included in total ‘offense’ value.
  • Penalties taken per 60 at five on five. They are included in total ‘defense’ value.
